Staying Grounded
Keep yourself grounded, don't let your ego or uncertainty get the best of you.
How I keep myself grounded
Meditation for me is clarity. I like to meditate before I start my day and before I go to bed. I just breathe and clear my mind. Find a spot a focus on it, or close your eyes. Meditation helps get me in the right mindset and usually puts me in a better mood instantly. I feel refreshed and more energized. I use the Balance meditation app which is more personalized for my specific goals
Reading hasn't always been my favorite pastime but through the years I found it a magical escape. I read random books. I have no rhyme or reason, as long as it catches my attention. Reading has really improved my focus and concentration as ADHD as I am. Everything from self-help books to fiction. I like classic literature, poetry, and books that make me cry. My dad would punish me with reading so I didn't enjoy it as much when I was younger. Reading helps with memory improvement as well. When you read a book you have to remember things in order for it to make sense. It’s a different way approach to remembering. A different kind of training you would say. Readers usually have stronger analytical skills, and for me, it has helped expand my vocabulary.
Reflection I need daily reflection. I'm constantly making mistakes, saying the wrong thing, being impatient. Self-reflection helps you learn from our mistakes. It encourages new ideas, positive changes, and growth. When you reflect you really get to see where you are. Taking a good hard look at yourself can really inspire change. There's always room for improving yourself, to better your life. You can't sit around a wait for tomorrow to get better. You have to put effort into making it better. Sometimes that means facing the cold hard truth. Embrace it.
A gratitude list has always helped me stay grounded. Count your blessings. You always have something to be thankful for. Sometimes I don't think I have anything to be thankful for, then reality reminds me there is someone who isn’t as fortunate.
Boundaries with people. Even with good intentions, I’ve learned not everyone wants advice or wants to be worried about.
Everything is always a work in progress.
