Embrace the Power of Giving Back:

Are you a compassionate soul? Welcome, to a blog post dedicated to the world of volunteering! In a bustling and dare I say…self-focused society? It’s essential to pause and reflect on the value of giving back and doing what you love.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

In a world that thrives on individual achievements and personal success, volunteers are the delicate reminder of our shared humanity. Volunteering is not just a kind gesture, but an essential part of our collective well-being. From empowering marginalized communities to fostering personal development, the advantages of volunteering are as eclectic and far-reaching as the causes we support. It is an act of selflessness, a bridge that connects diverse individuals, and most importantly, a force that has the power to create lasting positive change.

Volunteering only for the sake of your resume is counter productive. You may have heard that volunteering is a rewarding experience, but it can be challenging to pick the perfect place, if you don’t know all of your options. You may feel pressured to volunteer to improve a resume for medical school or graduate school, but make sure it aligns with you and your goals.

Volunteer work should demonstrate commitment to service and give interviewers a glimpse of YOU, and how you spend your time. Find something that aligns with your interests. Through volunteering, you can start to step outside your comfort zones, challenging yourself to be a more compassionate, adaptable, and understanding individual.
