Egg Perfect
Egg in a frame, also known as "egg in a hole" or "toad in the hole," is a classic breakfast dish. Here's how to make it:
Ingredients:
- Bread slices
- Eggs
- Butter or cooking oil
- Salt and pepper (optional)
Instructions:
1. Start by heating a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
2. While the skillet is heating, use a round cookie cutter or a drinking glass to cut a hole in the center of each bread slice. You can also use a knife to carefully cut out a hole.
3. Add a small amount of butter or oil to the skillet and let it melt, coating the bottom evenly.
4. Place the bread slices in the skillet, making sure they're flat.
5. Crack an egg into each hole in the bread slices. You can sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on top if desired.
6. Allow the bread and eggs to cook for a few minutes until the bottom side is golden brown and crispy.
7. Carefully flip the bread slices with a spatula, making sure not to break the egg yolk. Cook for a few more minutes until the other side is also toasted, and the egg is cooked to your liking (runny or set).
8. Remove from the skillet and serve immediately. You can use the cut-out bread circles as "lids" for the eggs if you like.
Poached.
Poached Eggs (Classic):
Bring a pot of water to a gentle simmer with a splash of vinegar.
Crack an egg into a small bowl.
Create a whirlpool in the simmering water with a spoon and gently slide the egg into the center.
Poach for 3-4 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk is runny. Remove with a slotted spoon
Scrambled Eggs:
Crack eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk until well combined. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat, add butter or oil, pour in the eggs, and constantly stir until they're creamy but slightly runny. Remove from heat just before they're fully set.
Boiled Eggs:
Soft-boiled: Bring a pot of water to a boil, gently add eggs, and boil for 4-5 minutes for a runny yolk or 7-8 minutes for a slightly firmer yolk. Then, immediately transfer to cold water to stop cooking
Sunny-Side Up Eggs:
Heat a non-stick skillet over low-medium heat.
Add a little butter or oil and crack an egg into the skillet.
Cook without flipping until the egg whites are set, and the yolk is still runny
